VTA Open Doors Wider to Minority and Women Contractors

The Minority Business Consortium (MBC) and Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority announce a new partnership that broadens contracting opportunities for local Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE). This program will help invigorate the contracting access of Santa Clara County’s Small Business Enterprises (SBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) as well.

“We have developed a business model that diversifies our outreach and is inclusive of all business communities,” says Walter Wilson, a Principal in MBC. The benefit that MBC partnership brings to VTA is its ability to leverage its many years of experience working in the business community, governmental agencies, and diverse community organizations, open new venues for VTA and brings these small businesses to opportunities that have been difficult to engage.

As can be attested by the following statements from prominent Silicon Valley Leaders, this VTA-MWBE program is important to both the Business community and the Labor communities in Silicon Valley.

In support of the VTA-MWBE program, Matt Mahood, President & CEO of San Jose Silicon Valley (SJSV) Chamber of Commerce stated the following, “By increasing access to contracting opportunities for diverse, small business enterprises including women, minority and disadvantaged business, we can strengthen our local business climate and increase the well-being of area businesses and their employees.”

Josue Garcia, CEO of Santa Clara/San Benito counties Building and Construction Trades Council stated that, “We support Valley Transit Authority increasing contracting opportunities for diverse small business enterprises to include women, minority and disadvantaged business”.

To launch the roll out of the MWBE program, this is a scheduled kick-off event to be held at Valley Transit Authority located at 3331 North 1st Street, San Jose, CA. on Thursday, January 29, 2015. For details please contact Minority Business Consortium at 408-660-9171.

All Minority and Women Owned business owners are encouraged to attend to maximize their contracting opportunities with VTA. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn about these wonderful opportunities.
